This year, our performance festival explores the themes of space and the body with a festival of performances.


Electric Hamsa

Join award-winning dancer Alia Mohamed in a live music spectacle as she merges contemporary and traditional middle eastern dance forms with a sci-fi, vanguard performance in a night celebrating Arab-futurism. Journey across time, space and wild soundscapes with this hybrid performance. The opening reception features Syrian delights provided by Break Bread, Break Borders.

Paper Pielby Jimena Bermejo, Michael Figueroa & Chris Brokaw (USA) is a multi-disciplinary experience created by dancer and choreographers

Jimena Bermejo and Michael Figueroa, in collaboration with musician Chris Brokaw,

from Boston, MA. Paper Piel explores the cartography of the body and its relationship

to paper, which is tied to the migration of information.

Xtabay (La Sombra) by Eduardo Savigon (Mexico) is a vanguard, operatic, blend of Mayan-goth. A performance

based on texts by Edgar Allen Poe and Charles Baudelaire and directed by Eduardo

Ruiz Savinon, this original work is presented by Teatro Gotico from Mexico City. Xtabay

explores the existence of our alternate, shadow-selves. Can two selves occupy the

same space?
